Can you tell me the best way to get from Malpensa to Varenna? Must we go through Milan or is there a direct route? Thank you.

Are you driving or by train?
If you take the train check the schedule here:

Station names:
Malpensa Aeroporto T1
Varenna Esino
Don't prepurchase tickets. No discounts are available on regional trains and you don't know if the plane will land on time anyhow. Just buy tickets at the airport station.
Make sure you take the train to Milano Centrale, not th one that goes to Milano Cadorna. The trains to Varenna depart from Milano Centrale.
