We have an ETA of 6:30 a.m. on a Monday morning, landing at Malpensa. Anyone have advice on transportation (train or bus-no taxi) to the train station where we catch a train to Lucca? Any other advice will be appreciated. George, Pittsburgh
If leaving from the main station -- Centrale -- take the shuttle bus -- about 45 minutes maybe a bit more at that time of morning. There is a train to the other station (forget the name) and a subway to the main station but the shuttle bus is easier.
We were in Milan last week and the trip from Malpensa on the shuttle bus (called Malpensa Express) is very easy. It leaves approximately every 20 minutes, takes about 50 minutes to get to the Central station and costs 6 Euro for a one-way ticket. You can either purchase your ticket from the driver or at a kiosk near the exit of the airport. They are renovating the train station so it's a little messy but just follow the signs to the main area once you leave the shuttle. If you don't have a ticket in advance you can purchase it from one of the ticket machines in the train station. Bon voyage!
