Malpensa Express from MXP to Milano Centrale: Do we need to change to a bus?

Hello everyone,
I can't figure out from the websites if the Milano Express takes you straight to Milano Centrale or if there are transfers along the way.
Can anyone help with that?
Thanks!

No, no bus required. It is direct. Just make sure you grab the train to Centrale and not Cadorna.

You have a choice of either taking a bus or the train. Both non-stop. That may contribute to your confusion about transferring.

Jim,

Since you mentioned a Bus, one point to clarify. Are you arriving at MXP Terminal 1 via a flight from the U.S., or at Terminal 2 via a flight from within Europe? If you're arriving at T1, the Malpensa Express is the quickest way to reach Milano Centrale.

A few other important points to mention. The Malpensa Express has two destinations, Milano Centrale and Milano Cadorna, so be sure to board the correct train. Also, the M.E. is a Regionale train so you MUST validate your ticket prior to boarding, or risk hefty fines which will be collected on the spot!

You can buy your tickets just inside baggage claim. there are 2 different bus companies, same price. it's 10E per person one way. Trip takes about 45-60 minutes.

The bus will leave you just on the side of the train station. No transfers, but the bus WILL make some stops to drop off and pick up passengers. Don't get off until you reach the train station...

We pre purchased our tickets, but there was no need to do so. The bus will be at the curb outside the airport, ask the customer service which # to wait by, and make sure you get on the bus that has the name of your destination...there are a LOT of buses coming and going....

Thanks for posting this, as I had the same question. However, we're coming into Terminal 2, so is it easier to take the bus into Milan Centrale instead of going to Terminal 1 to catch the ME?

pmmata,

Yes, it is definitely easier to take the Malpensa Shuttle as the travel time is about the same as using the train from Terminal 1 (but of course depending on traffic at the time). Are you flying to MXP via easyJet?

As I recall, there are two different Bus firms supplying service on that route. If you're flying with easyJet, you may be able to purchase a voucher for the Malpensa Shuttle during the flight (there's a slight surcharge I believe). I vaguely recall that only one of the Bus firms will accept the Voucher, but that's not a problem as the other Bus will be parked nearby. You'll exchange the Voucher for a ticket and then board the Bus. Larger luggage items go in the hold and carry-on size items can be brought into the passenger compartment. Plan on the Bus being FULL.

The Bus drops passengers at the side entrance to Milano Centrale. Go upstairs two levels to reach track level.

Ken,
Yes, we are flying in via Easyjet. We'll make sure to listen if they offer shuttle tickets...don't mind paying a little extra if it saves some time. Thanks for the info!
