Malpensa airport (Milan) to Baveno (near Stresa)

We cannot be curbside at Milan's Malpensa Airport until possibly 21:00 (9 pm) so are considering taking a taxi to village of Baveno near Stresa in the Lake Maggiore region. Any idea the cost? Travel time? Are some taxis safer than others?

Rome2Rio.com estimates the cost at 65 to 85 euros. The distance is about 35 miles. I have no idea how accurate the web site's taxi-fare estimates are.

You could also take a taxi to Gallarate train station (10 min away). There is a train at 22:02 that you can take to Stresa (35 min journey). Then at Stresa you would take a taxi to your hotel in Baveno (which is a town next to Stresa).
However, considering the cost of two short taxi rides (the cost of the train is insignificant), in the end you might be better off with a private car transfer, also for convenience and piece of mind.
I did a search for someone else and noticed that the price of a private car transfer from Stresa to Malpensa was 90€. Baveno is only 5 min further up the lake, therefore it shouldn't be much more than 100€.

Thanks everyone for the helpful info. Will try for the train. If flight is delayed, will go for the taxi. Do anyone know if the taxis which operate from the airport are all registered (and therefore considered 'safer')?

Sorry. I meant to say we would try to be curbside in time to catch the BUS, not the train. Duh!

If you go via train from Gallarate, I did some searches and discovered the taxi from MXP to Gallarate is an extortion, basically 35€ for 10 min. The train from Gallarate to Stresa is only 5€. Not sure about the taxi from Stresa to Baveno, but let's say 15-20€ max.
So it's potentially about 60€. At that point, you might as well spend 30€ more and take the taxi from MXP all the way to Baveno and not bother with transferring from taxi to trains.
