Can someone help me identify how to travel to Castlerotto from Malcesine and how much time it will take.
Per Rome2Rio.com, train takes 3 hours 40 minutes (a couple of changes), bus takes 5 hours 25 minutes, car takes one hour 41 minutes.
Neither town is served by train, so the Rome2Rio route must include a couple of non-train connections. Between Castelrotto and the train station at Bolzano is an easy bus ride.
Peter,
Using public transportation, this is the route I'd use......
- Boat from Malcesine to Peschiera (preferably the fast Aliscafo).
- Train from Peschiera to Bolzano (probably one change at Verona P.N.)
- Bus from Bolzano to Castelrotto (the Bus station is about a block or so from the rail station in Bolzano - an easy walk).
There may be other methods, but this one uses routes that I've travelled so I'm familiar with it.
You're going to take a bus from Malcesine up to Riva and then east to Rovereto, which is on the main Train artery. Take the train to Bolzano and then the bus to Castelrotto. I don't think it's necessary to backtrack south to Peschiera.
Laura, you are right, the last connection is by bus.
The first one must be by bus too as Malcescine is not served by train.
