My family spent a wonderful week in Malcesine this summer. We packed very light and weren't able to take home much in the way of souvenirs, but I'm wondering if any of the shops there have an online presence so that I could have a few things shipped to the U.S. for the holidays. Of course I don't remember the names of any shops, and I'm having a hard time finding them via google. This is kind of a long shot, but if anyone can share the names of some shops there (in Malcesine or Limone), I would greatly appreciate it! I'm specifically looking for kitchen wares, like olive wood spoons. Thank you!
For Christmas this year, you are likely out of luck. even if you do find a shop. The air shipping almost certainly to exceed the value of the items by a considerable amount. If you consider Super Bowl weekend a 'holiday', surface shipping might meet you time frame.
Wish I could offer something more positive----Good luck!
We purchased lovely salad tools, juicers and honey dippers while in Sicily. We love using them also gave them as gifts. Recently I was shopping in a store in Victoria that sells ceramics for the table made in Tuscany and they had olive wood tools that look just like ours. Try googling olive wood kitchen tools from Italy and I’m sure that you’ll find something stateside that you will receive before the holidays.
Is it critical that these items actually come from Malcesine or Limone? If you google “Italian olive wood products” you will find many sources available in the US, with a variety of products. I also love olive wood products, although anything not quite small is hard to carry when traveling. Personally, however, I always choose my individual pieces by the grain of the wood. Beautiful olive wood is really beautiful, but when the grain is not beautiful, neither is the product, I find.
