I only have 80 mins to make connections at CDG Paris to Florence. Any info. on whether I'll make it? Flight arrives 7:20 am at CDG
I had that much time last October and I made it on the plane with about 15 min to spare. You don't have to run, just hustle and try to beat the crowds through passport control and security.
What airline for each leg? It could be possible or not. You're arriving with the morning mob.
It'll be Air France coming in and going out.
To Stephanie- Thanks for the info. I'll hustle.
The good news is that if you miss the flight, AirFrance will stick you on the next one and they run every couple of hours. The bad news is that it's going to be really, really tight. You arrive with all the other early morning flights - - with a mob at luggage and immigration. You might be parked on the tarmac and have to be bussed in. Here's how you do it. Don't be tempted to hop the shuttle bus. Come out of the arrivals hall (coming from Atlanta, you'll come in at Terminal 2E) and hang a right. Start looking for signs to Terminal 2G (which is the Florence departure terminal). Move smartly. At a brisk clip, it's less than a ten minute walk. You'll spend that much time finding and waiting for the bus - - even before it gets moving, then you have to repeat the procedure at the 2G end. If you're coming from Charlotte, I think it routes through both New York and Atlanta - - New York might be 2E also, but I'm not sure.
Def. hustle. First time we went through CDG with about the same connection time (Delta/AF) we made it with about 5 min. to spare and we had to jog a good bit of the way.
Bring only carry-ons, or at least pack essentials in your carry-on, in case your luggage doesn't make it right away to your destination. LOTS of people have luggage problems, when flying via Charles de Gaulle. My last time through there I did and at least two other people I know recently have. Let's hope you don't -- but be prepared, in case you have to wait a couple of days to get your big bag, after getting to Florence. Florence is wonderful!
After reading this thread, I'm now worried as to whether I'll have enough time to make my connecting flight through CDG. I'll be flying Air France from LAX to CDG & will have exactly 1 hour to make my connecting flight to Venice. Should I follow the same instructions that Ed suggests for getting to the right terminal? Unfortunately we will have "checked" luggage but I will also take a carry-on with a change of clothes just in case. Sorry to hear that lost luggage is becoming an issue at CDG...I declined an alternate route through Heathrow because of this same issue & thought that CDG would be better!
I just had to do this CDG connection between a Delta flight from the US and the Air France flight to Venice. If you can do it, only bring carry on luggage. Also, at passport control, tell the staff person at the first class/business class line that you have a tight connection. They let me through and that really speeded up the process. Also, be prepared to go through security again just before you get to your gate in Terminal 2D.
I don't think Terminal 2D is in play unless something's changed. 2D is a left and across the way coming out of the arrivals area from 2E. That's a hefty walk - - maybe fifteen minutes. I've always thought that AF to Venice is from 2F, five minutes across the way from 2E.
According to this Air France website, Ed is partly right ... Florence is on 2G, but Venice is on 2D. http://www.airfrance.us/US/en/common/guidevoyageur/aeroport/correspondance_cdg.htm Choose CDG, and then the link "See recommended airport routes" to find your terminal. We had 70 minutes between flights in CDG last September, arriving at 6:10 am. We bought the "economy comfort" seats on Delta to get us seated up front, in order to get off the plane quickly. We hustled through the airport (no shuttles) and only needed about 30 minutes to get from 2E to 2D. We had only carry-on luggage so did not need to worry about that. Good luck!
Thanks for all the info. We'll see how it turns out. I do have checked bag but now I'll make sure I have a good supply of "stuff" in my carry on.
