Has anyone been to the Naples Archaeologic museum lately? We are planning to visit today and my husband just saw on their website that some of the major exhibits are closed,? Still worth visiting?
We were there Dec 29th, I would definitely go as this museum is large enough that even if a few exhibits are closed, there are THREE floors of amazing artifacts to visit! I seem to recall the Villa of the Papyri was closed but it had just been moved elsewhere in the museum.
Thank you. We are here now. And not crowded at all.
Fantastic! Gosh that's such an amazing museum... maybe just fewer staff to handle visitors. Is anything significant closed? We may go January 1st, would be good to know, thanks.
The museum states this on their opening page:
"The Museum is undergoing extraordinary renovations to reorganize its collections and improve
energy efficiency, aimed at improving the general offer and the visiting experience.
For this reason, some galleries or some single rooms are temporarily closed to the public."
They appear to be doing that on a rotating basis, and it's WAY too early know what stage the renovation project will be by January. IMHO, keep an eye on the website, and the museum in your sightseeing plan. :O)
Here's what's currently closed:

But here's something else that may be of interest for you, Sandancisco? MANN 2 is scheduled to open sometime later this year:

Thanks Kate! Good to know exactly what rooms will be closed when. We need another day just to see what's in the MANN, maybe we would need more days to see this!
Hope kcdav had a nice day!
