Made of Italians discounts

My friend and I will be in Milan in late October so I did some research on the Milan Expo and learned that since I am of Italian descent I qualify for the "Made of Italians" program which offers discounts for entry to the Expo, free public transportation in Milan, train travel throughout Italy, museum fees, hotels, tours, taxis, rental cars and a sundry of many other travel related activities (many of these are available throughout Italy through the Oct. 31.). I was wondering if anyone out there has taken advantage of these discounts, particularly, the Milano Card? If so, I'd like to get your feedback on the program. Is it really worth it?

Also, has anyone rented a car in the region of Cosenza, Calabria?

I haven't used it but you need to register for the program online. http://www.expo2015.org/en/projects/made-of-italians

To join the Made of Italians program, it is necessary to register in the dedicated area of the webiste and purchase a ticket for Expo Milano 2015.

The purchase of the ticket will activate your pass, which entitles you to pricing and dedicated service benefits offered with the program Made of Italians.

Made of Italians program members will receive an electronic voucher, to be printed and presented at the Made of Italians welcoming points in Milan, on order to get the special card containing additional discounts for the purchase of products and services throughout the country.

So how much Italian ancestry does one have to have, and how do you prove it?

I registered for the program a couple of weeks ago. All I had to do was list where my family originated and it took 2 or 3 days to receive confirmation.

My grandfather and grandmother immigrated from Italy in the early 1900's. However, I got the impression that as long as someone in your family came from Italy you would be accepted.

I've had problems with my browser accessing all the information from the program.

I'm having a bad experience with this Expo initiative and I'm going to write a letter to the Italian press.
Before doing that I tried to Google this topic to see if anyone is experiencing the same problem and I found this forum.
I'm an Italian residing in Asia since many years and as Rosana did, I planned to visit the Expo and found on the web site the program Made of Italians.
I was excited to see that, for the first time, my Country was doing something for its "expat".
So I contacted the Expo team, registered, got the secret code and only recently I bought 2 tickets for the Expo.
This is the only way to access to the page with the instruction for discounts from the Companies that take part to the initiative.
I was very disappointed when Etihad (my idea was to buy air ticket with them) said : we send you email with instruction once you buy a ticket. I did it but never received the email. I sent them email and made phone call from abroad but no way to get an answer.
Same thing with Trenitalia (Italian railway). No info on its website, many calls and no answer.
Above all I sent three email to the Expo team to seek for assistance but no answer.
So, before, when I had to enroll they were present and helpful, now that I bought the tickets but cannot get any discount from its affiliated Companies, they don't answer me anymore.
I'm going to contact the press.
This is my experience.
Happy to hear a different one more successful.
Ciao
