Luzern restaurant’s & activities

We have a few days in Luzern in late May. We’re staying near the chapel bridge. Any restaurant recommendations? Any excursion suggestions? We aren’t great walkers anymore…
Thanks!

Luzern is in Switzerland you know :-)

The Rathaus Brauerei is pretty good, on the river by the Chapel Bridge. Also liked La Bestia pizzeria on Frankenstrasse by the side of the train station.

Mt Rigi is a nice excursion. Take a boat from in front of the train station to Vitznau, then the Rigibahn to the mountain top. You can just return the same way if you don't want to do any hiking.

I second the Mt. Rigi excursion. Check your weather app (I use "Swiss Weather"), and/or check the Mt. Rigi webcam.

And you don't need to do any walking for Mt. Rigi.

A longer excursion we just took from near Lucerne, was Mt. Stanserhorn. From Stans, near the Bahnhof, you take a funicular, then a cable car. The views were spectacular. And also no hiking needed.

Take a cruise or long ferry ride on the lake. Some cruises include lunch or snacks. Docks are a short walk from the bridge area, to the left of the river, where it enters the lake.

Good idea from Stan. One of them is a steam powered, paddlewheel boat, I think the "Lucerna". You go to dock #1, or maybe #2. And they have pretty nice meals on board. I recommend the meat & cheese platter, listed under "small meals" or something like that, only chf 24. And the beer will be "Ur Brau", pretty good stuff. Or the wonderful Swiss wines.

When we went to Mt Rigi last June, we went to the Tourist Info office in the train station to get our round trip tickets. We timed it so we were on the paddle wheel boat to Vitznau, took the train up, then to return we took the train only to Rigi Kaltbad, and then the cable car down to Weggis. Then the boat back to Luzern. The return that way is a bit faster, and the cable car ride gives a great view, but it involves about 10 min easy downhill walking from the bottom of the cable car to the boat dock. If that is too much walking, then take the train all the way back to Vitznau and the boat from there.

If you have the RS switzerland guide (which I highly recommend), it's described in detail there.

The tourist information center can advise you and sell you the full ticket. We waited to be sure of the weather the day we wanted to go--they said that if we arrived when they opened they would have tickets available, so that's what we did.

When we took a walking tour run by the tourist info center, our guide recommended the Italian restaurant at the Hotel Weisses Kreuz. Here is the link to the restaurant, although it doesn't show the outside tables, which were pleasant. We enjoyed our dinner there. You can look at the menu to see if it might work for you.
