Looking for good Sunday lunch restaurant for 9. Would love them to have varied menu including steaks. Want to showoff Florence to some family that has never been there.

Not exactly in the historical center (but just outside of it, near Piazza della Libertà), however an institution in Florence. I think most Florentines like me would place it on top among the restaurants for Florentine Steak.
The restaurant can easily accommodate a large group and they also have outside seating.

Perhaps Buca Lapi. Great atmosphere, very good food. I would go to the restaurant a day or two ahead to confirm they can/will accommodate a group of 9 at a specific time.
Edit - I see you mentioned Sunday. I think they may be closed on Sundays.
