Lunch near Colosseum

Hi all:

My parents are visiting Rome in October and will be seeing the colosseum and some churches near it on one of their days... They will probably need somewhere to sit and have lunch and a rest in between - near colosseum.

Any thoughts?

Thanks!!

Which churches, Kim? Some have small cafeterias with edible food and proper chairs and toilet facilities. Certainly not all or most, though.

Near the Coloseum and St. Peter in Chains is Enoteca Cavour 313 which we really liked for a light lunch. It is listed in Rick's guidebook which is how I found it.
If they don't already have the book you should advise them to get it.

Li Rioni is nearby Il Colosseo and quite good. Here is a review "The Guardian" did awhile back.

A small wood-burning oven at the back of the pizzeria turns out hundreds of thin crust Roman-style pizzas every night. This busy neighbourhood pizzeria located just a few blocks from the Colosseum sees its share of tourists early on, but from 9pm until midnight hungry locals show up in droves and queue for tables. In the summer there is outdoor seating, while the year-round seating inside is set in a room decked out like an old Roman street scene. Folklore value aside, the pizza at Li Rioni are consistently good, particularly the sausage and mozzarella pie, and the margherita is among the best in the centre of Rome. Due to its popularity and the small size of its oven, service can be quite slow at peak hours.

Thanks all I will check those out!

They are going to all of those major ones around the Colosseum - St Peter in Chains, John Laterno, Mary Major, Clemente (probably not all spelled correctly, from memory....).

Thanks!!!
