Lunch in Verona, Pasta in Milan, Seafood in Venice

I'm off to Italy for the very first time in just under 2 weeks (thanks to a well-timed Emirates sale!). I'll be tromping around the North—visiting Milan, Lake Como, Verona, and Venice—and everyone I talk to about Italy says the same thing: eat everything!

I'm wondering what some of your favorite food spots are in these cities:
Verona - I'll be there for the day, so I'm looking for any lunch recommendations you have. Is there any specific dish that is a must-have in Verona?
Milan - Are there any particularly memorable restaurants you went to?
Venice - Any seafood recommendations you have would be greatly appreciated.

My price range is anything from a couple of bucks up to $90. I would never spend more than $40 on dinner at home (NYC), but this is Italy, so a little splurge is in the cards.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!!

Jeffrent,

We enjoyed a delicious lunch at Osteria il Ciottolo in Verona.

We ordered a mixed salad & pork tenderloin medallions with mushrooms served with creamy polenta.

While in Verona, make sure to eat the deliciously creamy gelato at Pretto gelateria.

We were only in Milan one day, but while visiting the Duomo, we met a student sitting on the steps eating something that looked
interesting & delicious. I asked him if he'd take our photo, then promptly asked him what he was eating.

He replied; "a Luini panzerotti, you've got to try them, they're delicious!" So, he pointed the way, gave me a clean napkin with the address printed on it & we joined the locals eating a couple of panzerotti leaning against the wall of a building across from the tiny shop. If you encounter a long line, don't despair as it moves rather quickly. They have an English menu on the wall (inside) & the servers speak English.

Panzorotti are fried or baked stuffed pastries. They have a variety of savory & sweet panzorotti & they are delicious and inexpensive!

Have a wonderful trip!

Recently returned from an Emirates sale trip myself... check out Zio Pesce in Milan. My cousin, who lives there, invited us for a most memorable seafood dinner. Best meal of our 18-day trip throughout Italy. Enjoy!

One of most vivid memories of "lunch" was in Verona. We stopped in a little pizzeria/Panini shop that had quite a selection of finger foods and we ordered a few of several of the items. It was kind of like cichetti or tapas in a way.

For Venice, stay as far away from the tourist-route as you can. Calle Largo S. Marco is full of expensive but just so-so restaurants. I would head for the university district (Dorsoduro) for good and affordable food.

One of my favorite restaurants in Venice is in an area kind of straddling the San Palo/Santa Croce neighborhood border. The name is Enoteca Rio Marin at the intersection of Fondamenta de la Latte and Calle S. Zuane (along Rio Marin). Great food at really good prices.
