Lunch+ in Milan

Hello all! We'll be taking the train from Lugano to Milan on a Wednesday in August, arriving in Milan at about 9:30 am. We have a plane to catch at LIN at 1:50 - I have fast passes for the security line there. Any advice on where to mull about for a few hours before lunch, and any advice on lunch? Hoping to stay in the central area and looking for something "off the beaten path" lunch wise. We plan on taking a cab to the airport b/c that is supposed to take 25 minutes as opposed to the 1.5 hours via transit.

I am reluctant to arrive at any airport for an international flight with less than 2 hours before takeoff. What is the recommendation from your airline for time to arrive? If we use the 2 hours as a working figure, this assumes that you arrive there at 11:50 a.m.

Backing up 25 minutes for a taxi, which I think is optimistic, this means that you finish lunch at around 11:25. Most restaurants (real restaurants, that is, ones with menus and lunch service) don't begin lunch service until noon or thereabouts. You will be looking for food at 10:30 in the morning.

When you add in factors such as time spent looking for a taxi, possible traffic delays, possible late arrival in Milan from Lugano, storage of your luggage while you seek food, I doubt you will have a "few hours" to mull about before lunch, let alone the time to find a restaurant to serve you in the time allotted.

Thank you so much for your insight! I guess I was more looking for something for a quick bite than a sit down thing, and I know a lot of places have a "this hole in the wall is the best" type thing that's what I was thinking.
In addition, the airline says 90 minutes to take into account the security lines, which I have a fast pass for (you can buy them for that airport online) but I will allot more time got that.
Guess I didn't just want to sit in the airport for 4 hours! I'll def rethink my strategy though.
