Planning a ride on the Bernina Express, northbound (from Tirano to Chur), departing at 14:24 (2:24 pm). Will arrive on a train from Varenna-Esino after a visit to Lake Como about noon. We need to find a convent, comfortable place to have simple lunch before the 4+ hour run north to Chur. Any suggestions?
Several places right by the stations. Nothing stands out, Just take your pick. Nice weather, most have sidewalk cafes.
I find eating places near a station by looking at satellite view, Apple Maps or Google maps.
These two are very close to the stations:
It was in 2015, but I remember just walking across the street. Nothing fancy, but not vending machine food. They had Beer.
You are aware your train from Varenna arrives at a different station than the one you depart from on the Bernina Express? They are perpendicular to each other on the same square and it takes maybe 30 seconds to walk between the two. But if you went back to your arriving station you would miss your train.
As for lunch, just pick a convenient place.
Thanks for the ideas.
Yes, I am "aware" there are two train stations a short walk from each other. :)

Frank, thanks for this tip. I’m going in the opposite direction this fall and wouldn’t have known this. :)
We ate at Merizzi https://merizzi.it/ a few years ago and loved it. It was VERY busy with people off our train that came from Chur and who were going back on the roundtrip. Some never got served, so I would book a table which their website says they do (click on “Prenotazioni” in the upper right).
