Lugguge Fiumicino airport to Roma Termini

We usually carry our 28" bags and a carry on to travel. Will we be able to store them on the train??? Is it safe to leave them in luggage racks??? Any information provided would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

You should be able to put them on the overhead rack. Oversize luggage can be stored at the car's ends in the storage area. Since it will be out of sight from where u seat, carry a cable lock to tie them for piece of mind. Luggage cable locks are for sale online. Others here may suggest specific brands.

....Plus, the most efficient way to get to Termini is on the Leonardo Express, the only stop is at Termini and the only passengers other Air travellers. It is relatively easy to keep an eye on the luggage.

Not only that but the Leonard Express is set up for airline passengers with huge luggage racks in the middle of the car and just about everyone is an airline passenger going to Termini. However, on the regular trains the 28" is too big for the overhead racks and probably too heavy to get on the rack even if it would fit. A 28" AND a carry on is a lot of luggage to handle anywhere and especially on a train. While there is a lot of discussion about luggage thefts it is rarely reported here or anywhere else. A big 28" bag is not an easy grab and run type theft. I would focus on getting lighter if you could.

Thank you so much. I am thinking seriously about downsizing. I hate schlepping it around.

Chris, The Leonardo Express tends to be a bit "informal" so you shouldn't have any issues with luggage. I'm usually able to just keep my kit on the floor beside my seat, so don't always use the luggage racks. If you decide to use the racks, it IS a good idea to watch it during the trip. You may find it helpful to watch the second video on this page from the excellent Ron In Rome website (towards the bottom): http://www.roninrome.com/%20transportation/the-train-station-at-fco Before boarding the Leonardo Express, DON'T forget to validate! Happy travels!
