Luggage transfer services between cities

Hello all,

I am new to this forum. Nice to meet you all virtually :)

My mother and I are visiting Milan, Florence and Rome in September. We will be taking trains to travel between these cities and would like to send our luggage to the hotel separately to avoid the hassle of having to load and unload on trains.

I read about the Luggage transfer Service offered by Trenitalia (https://www.trenitalia.com/en/services/luggage_transportservices.html). Has anyone used this service recently? If so please share your experience on how easy and reliable it was.

Alternatively, if you have used another service like "Send My Bag", please advise on that as well.

Thanks!

You might get much of a response here. This site just don't have travels would spend that kind of funds to forward luggage. Might try Trip Advisors. Most here emphasis packing light -- perhaps one carry-on size bag - so the necessity of forwarding luggage is very, very low. Good luck ---

Thanks for the heads up, Frank!

I try to pack light too, but I am traveling with my elderly mother so I would be handling her luggage as well. I don't think we can fit both of our stuff into one carry on, but I will give it a try.

i Haven't heard of this before. Reading the link you posted it is a door-to-door service by TNT (a large parcel company).
Some points:

You bag will be deliverd where you wish, by the end of the next day almost everywhere in Italy.

So you will not get your bag until the following day, probably delivered to your hotel while you are out sightseeing. Can you survive the first night and day without your luggage? Or just with a small bag you carry on the train?

There appears to be only a limited service at the weekend. The English here is a bit garbled. It woud need someone to check the Italian original.

The bags must be standard size (for example: 110x80x40 cm. The sum of the three dimensions may not exceed 250cm). The maximum permitted weight is 25 kg. A higher charge applies to bags exceeding this weight and size.
