Luggage store at Franzensfeste Station in the Dolomites

Hi!

My partner and I are going to be hiking the Dolomites for a few days next month. We’re just staying in Rifugios so don’t have a hotel to leave non-hiking essential items in.

I’ve read that most Italian train stations have luggage storage. Is the Franzensfeste station one of them? Is there anywhere online that lists which stations do or don’t?

Thank you!

Sabrina

I wouldn’t count on the station having lockers. There is no mention of lockers on the website https://www.rfi.it/en/stations/fortezza-franzensfeste.html

Generally you would search for the station, then look at the services offered. Big stations usually have lockers or luggage storage. Are you transferring trains in Bolzano and can possibly store things there?

You might try the Bounce app. There may be nearby businesses that will hold luggage for a fee.

Fortezza/Franzenfeste is a quite large station built at the crossing of two lines for railway technical reasons, but it does service a very small community (most of them railway workers). It does not have even a manned ticket office, there is only a ticketing machine. I have used the station several times to switch trains, but I never made use of the exit to the village.
