This coming August we would like to drop off our rental car and spend the day in Arezzo before taking the train to Florence. Is there current information regarding luggage storage at the train station or nearby? The information I have found seem to be out of date.

Call or write to the tourist office next to the station. They used to offer that service at that office, but not sure if they still do.

I received a reply from Angela in the local tourist office. "as for luggage storage services, Central Parking may be the best option if you plan to leave your luggage for the day. They are located a few steps away from the train station, in Via Piero della Francesca 45, just 200 mt at the left of the train station. (Telephone number +39 345 348 9033). Price 1E every hour or 6E all day."
"As an alternative we can also keep your luggage in our office during our open times, but please note we do this service informally. We are not provided with locker rooms or luggage insurance policies, but the service is free of charge."
