Hi all, We arrive in Milan very early and will take a late day train to Verona. Where can we check our bags (5 of us - so probs 10 bags) - Milano Centrale train station? Is that very safe, are there any size restrictions? Also, same question for Rome and Naples.
Is this a common thing to do? Thanks!
http://www.amoitaly.com/deposit/milano.html http://www.roninrome.com/transportation/take-my-luggage-please Since you are headed off to Italy suggest you peruse the Ron in Rome website. He's fabulous and shares great insight. Strongly advise buying the RS Italy guidebook as well. Loads of practical information that will come in handy during your trip. Such as remembering to stamp your train tickets, how to read your train ticket, packing lightly, etc. Ciao.
Most big train station have luggage storage. It is common. Milan and Rome are staffed and in the lower level. Don't remember about Naples but would assume they do. If asking about size restrictions, sounds like too much luggage.
In Italy, the left luggage facilities are staffed. No lockers in the train stations. And, the left luggage facilities are only in the larger train stations. This information is on the Trenitalia website but it's in Italian and you need to know which Region the train station is in. For example, for Florence, you would need to know that Florence resides in Tuscany. Naples is in Campania. Yes there is a staffed left luggage facility in Naples Centrale according to the website. It's open every day including Sunday from 06:15 to 21:00
Don't forget to allow for time in line at baggage storage.
