Luggage storage at Malpensa airport?

I have read that there is luggage storage at Malpensa airport on their website. Has anyone stored luggage there and is it secure? My husband wants to store his bike (in a bike case) there for 4 days while we're in Milan before we go on a cycling tour.

I didn't see luggage storage in Malpensa; but I wasn't looking for it. If you don't get your answer here, when you arrive at Malpensa go to the Tourist Information Office and ask about bike storage.

So, Carl, what would happen if he waited until he got there with his bike, asked information and found there is no luggage storage?

It helps to actually know the answer if you decide to post a response here.

Karen - sorry about that.

Here's a link to the Malpensa website in English which shows the location and hours of baggage storage.

So, Doug. He would walk across the street and check it at the hotel. No big deal.

Unfortunately, we will not be staying at a hotel across the street from the airport--we are staying in Milan--so we would need to take the bike case with us on the bus or in a (large) taxi. That's why I'm trying to check on the security of the luggage storage at the airport, so we can leave the bike without worrying about it. (There's no question that there IS luggage storage at Malpensa--there's info about it on their website), Thanks!

Karen - thanks for clarifying that you know the airport has luggage storage. I had hoped that I had at least helped to confirm that by finding and then posting the link to their website. That wasn't clear on your original post. I know you've had the opportunity to edit your original post, but when you first posted, I understood it to mean you didn't know if there is baggage storage at all. Otherwise, I wouldn't have spent the time to search it to help you.

Carl had weighed in with his usual non-specific advice to wait and ask someone. And then he comes back to say you can walk across the street to a hotel.

I've posted a fair amount of research here on hotels near Malpensa. Taking a bike to hotel is not a reasonable solution. There are no hotels "across the street" from Malpensa.

Unfortunately, I can't guarantee that baggage storage at Malpensa is 100 percent safe. But Malpensa is a professionally run institution; baggage storage at railroads and airports is a very common service in Europe and I have never seen a complaint on this board that someone has had something stolen from official baggage storage at the transportation facilities in Europe.

Doug, thank you so much for your research on my behalf. I'm sorry my original post wasn't clear--I thought by saying that I had read there was storage at the airport by looking at the Malpensa website, folks would know I had tried to find out as much as I could beforehand. Thank you also for your reassurance regarding the security of the storage; hopefully my husband will feel OK about leaving his bike there! I even called the luggage storage number at the airport, but since I don't speak Italian, I wasn't able to make myself understood to the man who answered. Just another reason to learn Italian!
