Can we take our luggage on the funicular from Trapani to Erice?

I think you can, but I haven't done it in years. There is also a bus from Trapani that will take you to Erice.

It's a cable lift that seats 6 to 8 people face to face. I suppose you can take luggage as it seems to operate continuously.
