Luggage in Rome!

My suitcase bit the bullet. I’m staying near the train station in Rome, but don’t want to buy off the street vendors. Can anyone recommend somewhere? Ideally something that will last a few years...thanks!!

I would get something cheap to get you home, then do research for a decent one.

Charlotte has a good idea. As we all know from the many luggage threads on this forum, buying luggage isn't something to be done in haste. Unless you have already researched suitcases and know what you want, you probably don't want to spend time doing this while on vacation (going to various stores, measuring to see the real dimensions, etc). Just buy something cheap from the street vendors to get home, then figure out a more permanent solution at leisure.

If you do want to buy luggage in Rome of a better grade than you'll get from a street vendor, La Rinascente is a department store (roughly at the level of Macys or a bit above). Their Rome branch is at Via del Tritone, 61, and it seems they're open 9:30 AM to 11 PM, seven days a week!

Perhaps you can get by with a simple duffle type bag? Depending on how bad your suitcase is - consider duct tape and cordage or a strap for repair. YouTube videos can help if you are hanging out at night in your room. I fixed a zipper recently with paracord, scissors, and a lighter. Good Luck!
