We are planning a trip for the spring and have planned to leave Lucca on April 25 and then our B&B owner told us that no buses will run on Liberation Day. Any ideas? We are reluctant to rent a car as picking up and dropping off cars in Florence and Pisa was no fun last year.
Did you already see weekday bus schedules that you liked? I would say that public transport between these two points is difficult at the best of times, with several connections, so I really would rather drive.
Lucca is near the Pisa airport where you can rent a car. The airport is next to the freeway entrance. How hard can it be?
Do you drive a car in your country? If so what is the problem?
The only other option is trains but that would involve several connections and about five hours if everything works perfectly.
You can rent a car in Lucca. It is also not difficult to pick up and return the car in Pisa.
