Any good restaurant recommendations that can accommodate 10 people? Bonus points if open on Sunday. Thanks!
When will you be there? Outdoor seating may allow some places to have more flexible capacity.
Ten people is a lot - probably not too many for some restaurants but you will probably be filling a good part of their capacity so definitely alert them well ahead of time and make reservation well ahead of time.
What kind of dining are you looking for? Many of the finer places have small capacities. I can think of one restaurant that had tables for big parties like this and serves nonna's home cooking dishes but it is not for the faint of heart or those who lack a sense of humor.
Good luck,

I’m so curious about what your last line means! We are not particular, other than that we want somewhere that’s good. It will be end of June. I’ve sent several reservation request messages and have yet to get a reply from any.
trattoria da Giulio https://www.trattoriadagiulio.it/
We ate there last month. Excellent food, big selection on the menu and there are 2 large dining rooms so should be able to accommodate 10 people. Unfortunately it may not be open on Sunday, but double check.
On the advice of someone who has lived in Lucca for years, we ate at Trattoria Gigi and thought it was very good. Open Sunday. She also named some fancier places and I could find those for you. I don’t know how big Gigi is.
Found her email: “Lunch spots in Lucca - Da Rosolo is always a favorite. Trattoria Gigi. Osteria Via San Georgio. I haven’t eaten yet at Stella Polare but hear it’s great.”
Osteria da Pasquale, Ostreria Baralla, Osteria San Giorgio, Trattoria da Leo, Ristorante Mecanate. Some of these are only open for dinner and probably goes without saying but you will need to book in advance.
We have dinner reservations at Osteria San Giorgio in May. They responded immediately to my email. They are open on Sundays for lunch and dinner. Closed on Mondays.
Thanks all! I had reached out to several of these, but just emailed Osteria San Giorgio and they replied immediately. Thanks so much! Keeping the rest of the list handy to try to grab reservations when we’re there.
I'm glad you got your reservation and I'm sure you'll have a great time and a great meal.
The restaurant I was referring to was - Trattoria da Ubaldo - which unapologetically cooks "grandma's food" but has a decidedly 'outsider' atmosphere. Not our waitress but another one had a highly spiked collar and the place it self is decorated with old consumer electronics and liberally with penises. Not kidding - like I said - you need a sense of humor. (This is also in line with decorations in Pompeii and ancient Rome is you follow history.)
People from Lucca probably cringe at my mentioning of this place but this place along with Bar L'aurora I think call back to a pre-tourist polished gritty locals Lucca I'm kind of glad still exists.
Just my $.02, have a great time Lucca has many great places to eat,

near rialto bridge and close to harley davidson store, small cocktail/music bar/restaurant. there are bras hanging from the celing, wall, lights where ever they find room. it was so funny, we had a meet up there with about 12 of us we met from cruise critic before a greek island cruise. my friend and i bought a 48DDD bra decorated with rhinestones and donated it to the wall. it was so funny, we ordered drinks and appetizers, had a table in back for all of us and laughed so much.
maybe a few in your group can walk by or have a cocktail with a photo shoot. have fun & enjoy
