We're planning a trip to Lucca in the latter half of October. Hope to avoid the comic and games convention at the end of the month, but am reading set up begins in early October. Is this the case and should we change plans?

A few of years ago we ended up arriving on the last day of Comics and Games, Nov 1 that year . I would not have planned it that way, but it turned out to be a hoot and we very much enjoyed walking the very crowded streets and seeing all the costumes. Yes, there were tents in som e of the piazzas afterward as it also takes time to remove the evidence, but it did not detract from our enjoyment of Lucca and the surrounding area. The weather that year (2015) was amazing!
