Lucca for one night vs two nights

Squishing around an itinerary trying to optimize and might want to steal a night from Lucca to make some other parts work better.

Lucca is my departure city for flight home out of Pisa. Easy airport access.

I could show up before lunch, drop stuff at hotel room ready or not, spend one night and leave 9:30am the next morning.

Or I can show up around the same time or a bit later on the day previous and stay two nights.

I've never been to Lucca, but it has been implied that I shouldn't be losing a heck of a lot with the one night option.

Opinions? Thank you

Lucca doesn’t really have any must see sights
If you just want to wander a bit to see the town then 1 night is probably fine

I agree with Christine, Lucca is charming but small, take a bike ride on the town walls to get a feel for the town. Have a great trip.

Thank you, one night Lucca solves a lot of problems in the early parts of the trip :)

A day trip from Florence would suffice, but since you are flying out of Pisa, one night is ok. If you need to be closer to the airport, you can also stay in Pisa and visit Lucca from Pisa.

Traveling by train we stopped over for one night on the way from Florence to the Cinque Terre in 2010. We arrived in Lucca in the morning and rented bikes to ride atop the wall and around town. Very fun. We did everything we wanted to do and left the following morning. One night should be plenty.

We had a full day and night to enjoy Lucca. We leisurely strolled along the tree-lined walls during the daytime and again after dinner. Actually, my favorite meal out of a three-week trip around Italy was in Lucca! Sorry, I don’t remember the name of the restaurant. One night is fine, and Lucca is an easy trip to Pisa.
