I don't recall any Gelato shops in Lucca, but one restaurants comes to mind. I had a couple of fine meals at Ristorante Pizzeria Da Francesco, which is close to the railway station. I was staying at Hotel Rex so it was a very convenient location. I thought the food was great, and hopefully that hasn't changed.

One standout gelato place in Lucca is Gelateria De' Coltelli Via S. Paolino, 10, just off Piazza San Michele. Run by a Sicilian passionate about organic ingredients and unusual flavors and combinations.
Many good places to eat.
We enjoyed Osteria San Giorgio and their charming internal patio Via S. Giorgio, 26.
Osteria Dal Manzo Via Cesare Battisti, 28, always gets mentioned and we tried but did not get to eat there.

We were in Lucca a few weeks ago while on the Village Italy tour. On our free night there, we ate at Osteria Da Pasquale. I had read about this restaurant on the Travel Forum and had made dinner reservations prior to the start of the tour. It was the best dinner while in Italy, and it did not break the bank. Reservations are a must as it is a popular place to eat in a delightful quiet courtyard.
