I will be staying w/ 2 friends in Lucca for 4 days and doing day trips around the area. Can anyone who stayed in or around Lucca recommend any good restaurants that are reasonably priced-preferrably where locals hang out...Thanks

There is a restaurant/deli family run directly up the piazza from the main door of Basilica di San Frediano. They had a 10 euro Sunday dinner that included soup, tortelli (ravioli), choice of roast pork or veal scallopine and a 1/4 liter of wine and water, plus an esspresso. Almost all locals (ome Austria copule). Place was packed with people waiting.

Osteria Baralla - located just off the amphitheater. Wonderful service - wonderful food. Read the reviews here on the helpline and on trip advisor. I highly recommend it. Have fun.
