Lucca B & B recommendation?

Previous posts on this topic are a bit dated. Can anyone suggest a Lucca B&B within the walls? 2 adults, no car. Without a car, I presume it is preferable to stay within the city centre?

We're booked next spring at "Le Violette B&B" inside the Lucca walls. http://www.leviolette.it/

Not stayed there before, but it's recommended in the Rick Steves Tuscany book.

I booked by e-mail using [email protected]

The place has several reviews on TripAdvisor. Most are 4 stars out of 5. One reviewer didn't like the towels and soap and complained of noise outside their room during breakfast, but all the other reviews were 4 of 5 or 5 of 5. Looks good to us, especially with prices for a double with bath being just 75 to 85 Euros (depending on time of year).

Just got back from a Village Italy tour and we stayed within the walls at La Luna. Was very nice and we had breakfast included, though in Rick's book he notes it's overpriced.

Two months ago we stayed at La Romea B&B in Lucca (within the walls) and LOVED it! Hands down the best breakfasts we had in Italy (prosciutto, croissants, eggs!, you name it). The young couple that run the place (Giulio and Gaia) couldn't have been more helpful. We would stay there again in a heartbeat and recommend it HIGHLY to anyone going to Lucca.

Ask for the Red Room. It's beautiful.

We are going to stay at the Tangohotel, which is located just outside the wall. I am told it is a 15 min walk to the center. While I haven't stayed there yet, the owner, Miriam has been quite nice in all of our email communications. Good reviews on Trip Advisor and advice from a friend in Florence led me to book this hotel/B&B. 99 Euros a night, includes breakfast and parking. If you stay longer I think you can get a lower rate.

We found La Magnolia perfect. Laura and her colleagues could not be better hosts. It is a block or so from the Roman Ampitheater. It is part of an original palazzo with a stunning entryway. It only has five rooms. Breakfast is done by vouchers to four local "bars." Each morning we tried a different place and different treats. Laura gives a discount for cash. If you change your mind about an auto, she has access to a car park a minute's walk away. The city centre is the place to stay and Magnolia on Via Marconi is an easy walk to everything. An excellent grocery is but two streets away and right near a fabulous pastry shop. We loved Lucca and hope you will as well. George, Pittsburgh
