Lucca as home base: apartments

Hi there. We are R.Steve tour "vets" and have been to Italy (with and w/o RS tours) several times. We are interested in renting an apt.rather than staying in a hotel and making Lucca our home base for trips to Florence, Pisa, etc. We won't be renting a car.

Anyone have good feedback on an apt? We have been to Lucca before, so not totally novices. Thinking of a week or maybe longer in the fall.

We rented a great apartment from 2italia for a week. They have several apartments in Lucca, but we stayed in their Corso Giuseppe Garibaldi location. Their website, however, is not in English at the moment for some reason.

Thanks, Emily. I read several of your posts on the Austria forum which were most helpful (we're just back from a trip to Vienna, France and Dublin)

I loved Lucca, I could live there!

I stayed here and liked it very much. residence il Dumo, Lucca

I actually stayed in Lucca 2 weeks, one week before going to the coast and I week before heading north.
The second week I stayed at a II Ramingo B and B with kitchen access just outside the city walls, a great budget option. Shared bath, but not a problem for the small number of rooms in the B and B.

We spent several nights in Casa Olivieri, a very nice two-bedroom apartment in the historic center:

The booking process and arrival were very easy, and the apartment is very comfortable. The master bedroom is particularly nice (and large).
