What are some recommended accommodations in Lucca
Whatever you do, stay inside the walls.
don,
I stayed at Hotel Rex which is outside the walls and very close to the train station. It's not really a long walk to get to the main part of town, and having a location close to the station was very convenient.
stay inside the walls. that's where you are going to spend your time most likely. Lucca is a very delightful and relaxing town. There are concerts at night (lots of Puccini since that's where he's from) and take it from an opera singer - the singing is really very, very good. There's also plenty of enjoyable places to eat. Don't be put off if the tables are too close to each other! It's a great way to see what people are eating.
On an RS trip of Village Italy several years ago we stayed in Hotel La Luna, inside the wall and it was great. Breakfast included and perfect location to wander all over the town, the wall, rent bicycles, climb all the towers. It is on TripAdvisor if you want to see photos and get all the info.
I would recommend the hotel and if I ever get to Lucca again (fingers crossed) I would stay there if I could.
I've marked out this hotel for next time I'm in Italy and Lucca.

Has anyone had any experience at B&B Anfiteatro? We are planning on staying in Lucca for two nights the end of Sept 2017 and we were looking at this place to stay.
djp_syd,
What do you mean you marked this one out? Did you stay there and have a bad experience? We have been looking at that place to stay when we are in Lucca Sept 2017.
"Marked out", meaning "chosen" in this case. I think it looks good.
Thank you. We have been looking for rooms within the walls, and San Martino is one we are thinking about. The other is B&B Anfiteatro.
B&B La Romea is very nice and well-located. Fabulous hosts!
Piccolo Hotel Puccini, great location, some rooms overlook Puccini's statue. Ver central location.
I second La Romea, that is if you don't mind a flight of stairs. The Palazzo is beautiful, reasonable and right in the center of town.
Okay, check out Relais San Lorenzo. It was amazing. Don't blab it all over the Internet, though. It's almost too good to share.
