Hi: I have 1 ngt to spend in Lucca in Sep after leaving Siena & on my way to CT. Does anyone have a suggestion on where to stay within the city walls, that is safe, clean & definitely "budget" - 60 euro or under?
Thanks for your help!
If you include your definition of "budget" in dollars or euros you'll get better reponses.
I don't know if it counts as a "budget" hotel, but we loved Hotel Alla Corte Degli Angeli. It was right in the center of the city, and I remember thinking it was a great value for what we paid. My favorite part was the breakfast-- there were lots of choices, including "squeeze-your-own" orange juice and the best cheesecake I've had in Italy. The rooms were very nicely decorated and there were a lot of nice touches throughout the hotel. Our room even had an iPod sounddock or some other iPod speaker system. I'd love to go back.
Check out Albergo Diana, save, clean & budget (around 60E for a double with bathroom). No breakfasts but nearby bar has coffee & cornetto for 2E. The hotel is within the walls but an easy walk from train station.
Hi Gail - We are doing the same thing in September. What night will you be there? I decided that since we would just be there for one night I wanted to make it convenient. I booked a room at Hotel Rex, right by the train station. It is just outside the wall, but a short walk into town. My thought was that for such a short visit I didn't want to have to haul my bags very far. We can arrive, drop our bags at the hotel, and go about our day.
I hope you have a great trip and maybe we will see you there! What CT town are you staying in?
