Luca or Viarrago?

Only have 3 days and 2 nights. Like things to see and do as well as some down time. Which of these 2 cities do you recommend or would you visit Luca for a day and then go to Viarrago? This is first week of Oct and staying in the beach in the east coast after this.

Assuming you mean Lucca or Viareggio I think the critical question is how much time are you going to spending doing beach resort related activities? Viareggio is a purpose built resort town with the promenade, pier and endless resorts with rows and rows of rentable beach chairs and umbrellas.

If that sounds like what you're looking for then Viareggio is your place. It sounds like you're doing a beach location later so if you're looking for something different Lucca is a walled town with medieval buildings, tight lanes, a bunch of churches, a few towers and many piazzas and restaurants. Pisa is 30 minutes from Lucca if the leaning tower and surrounds hold any appeal.

Have a great trip,

Viareggio has a beautiful sea promenade, worth a stroll at all times, but October is not beach time in Italy. Well, maybe with climate change, but it would be a bet.

What East coast are you going to?
The coast of Eminem-in-Romania? Apracepuzzo? Or further south in the Gargle peninsula of Pugilist?
If you are going to pretty beach places there, maybe Varrago wouldn’t be a good choice since Varrago beaches are so so. Luca is a nice name for a man, but Lucca is a pretty medieval city.
