Los Angeles to Pisa -Transiting Heathrow Aug 18th

It's confusing! As things stand, anyone flying from England to Italy, even if they are just transiting at a UK airport, must quarantine in Italy for 5 days. This doesn't work for us. If anyone hears that the Ministerio de Salute in Italy has modified that policy - - I would surely like to know. Thanks everybody and thank you Bill for some great posts.

Saw that the other day and it throws a wrench in our plans for late August, too. We are considering flying LHR to GVA as Switzerland is now open to anyone vaccinated. We will spend a few days in CH before continuing to Italy. At least that looks good today. Who knows what will change?

August is a lifetime away in terms of Coviid. It’s a risk you take with international travel at present, unfortunately. All that is certain is that things will change before then - whether for the better or the worse. Sorry, but no one knows what’s going to happen with the Delta variant or Epsilon or whatever we are up to then.

"even if they are just transiting at a UK airport"

Logically, it makes perfect sense if you are travelling on a plane for 2 hours surrounded by people from a country with a relatively high rate of new cases.
As Jennifer says, the situation, rules and regulations now are likely to be completely different in seven weeks time.
