We are traveling to Italy in March, 2010. We fly into Milan and will spend our first night in Milan and want to visit the Lord's Supper. Do we need to book a tour of Milan (which includes the Lord's Supper) or will we be able to find everything on our own?
On my last trip I just had one day for Milan and wanted to see several things including the Last Supper. Since it was the last day of my trip, I booked a tour that included LaScala, the Duomo and Sforza Castle as well as the Last Supper so that I wouldn't risk missing my reservation time and still get to see the things I wanted to see.I'm sure you can do it very easily on your own or take a tour if your time is limited. The metro is very easy to negotiate but stops can be a hike away like in most large cities.
I'm guessing that you're referring to Leonardo da Vinci's Last Supper?
You do not need to book a tour of Milan that includes the Last Summer to be able to view it.
You will need to reserve tickets and a time in advance. You can do that directly, yourself (google to get the official web site), or ask your hotel to do it for you.
These tickets are taken early and quickly, so plan to make these reservations about three months in advance.
