Looking for the perfect place to stay in Tuscany!

My boyfriend and I are traveling to Tuscany for 1 week in October, our first visit there! I have searched a ton of travel sites and have had a difficult time finding accomodations that fit what we are looking for. I am hoping that you all can offer some advice! We are looking for something preferably in southern Tuscany (Siena, Pienza area), but we are open to suggesstions. We want to stay at a place that is a relaxing "Tuscan" environment, not "touristy", and not crowded. We are very open to agriturismos and B&Bs. We would like a place that has a restaurant or offers meals if desired. We will have a rental car to travel around Tuscany (ie Florence, etc), but would like to stay somewhere on the outskirts of a town/village. We want to be able to walk to restaurants/village life if we choose to not eat at the agriturismo/B&B, especially if we are drinking wine and will not drive! We are really looking to embrace the food/wine and scenery of the Tuscan environment! We are trying to keep our stay at around $700 (US Dollars) for the 7 nights. We will need a parking space at our accomodation as well. Any recommendations are greatly appreciated! Grazie!

Hi Cassie, Try the web site airbnb. It is people who rent out rooms, apartments, etc. I would look only at the ones who have a few reviews. You can specify room type, budget, neighborhood and amenities. It has many great options for you. They even show the properties on a map. I booked my places to stay in Italy through them at a huge savings from standard hotels. Good luck!!!! Susanna

You might enjoy the Agriturismo Andreini outside of
Siena. We stayed there for two weeks four years ago and loved it. Host and hostesses were delightful, knowledgeable and one daughter, Monica, who is fluent in English, gave us a lovely tour of their farm. Another daughter, Maria Pia, was the chief cook and her meals were delicious. Breakfast was not spectacular (sweet bread with jams, which is a typical Italian breakfast,) but the strong and bottomless pot of coffee was a hit. The farm is located in a scenic and serene spot of Tuscany, a short drive from Siena. Check the website to make sure they are still in business! Buon viaggio!

Cassie, I am heading over to Rome and Tuscany in September 2013. i already made my arrangements to for both locations. In Tuscany, we are staying at the agriturismo, "Villa il Castango" just north of Siena. The website is www.villailcastagno.it/en/default.aspx I do believe this is what you are looking for. It is within your price range, it is a bed and breakfast and has it's own restuarant on the premises. Also it is approximately 3 to 4 miles outside of Siena.
Gool luck on your search.

You've asked a tough question. You wouldn't believe how perfect many places in Tuscany can be. I would list Lucca, Cortona, Volterra, San Gimignano, Montepulciano just to name a few of the larger small towns. There are literally dozens of smaller areas in Tuscany and Chianti that could be perfect. Siena is a nice choice. Lots to see and it is central to so much in the area. For something a bit more quiet and smaller, I would suggest Volterra or one of the many agritourismos in the region.

There is a great b&b outside of San timing nano. Have stayed there a couple of times. Wonderful hosts, cooking lessons offered and delicious meals provided with wine for 25 euro per person. Great location. We drove to pienza , montalcino and Siena. On our last trip, we visited Orvieto on the way back to Rome. The name of the place is il vicario. You can check out reviews on trip advisor.

So many great places... I stayed at one near San Gim and it was called Poderi de Arch Angel. They did have a restaurant, but it was out of town a bit, so you are not able to walk to restaurants. Another great place, but no restaurant for dinner, was in San Donato and it was called Antica Dimora... very quiet, tiny town but just a few miles from everything, and the view from the hilltop was amazing overlooking the vineyard.
