Looking for suggestions in the area around Ascoli Piceno

My wife and I have traveled extensively in Italy but we've never been to the southern Marche region. This fall (September) we will be renting a countryside villa near Ascoli Piceno. We will join a small group of friends with cars who love urban as well as rural adventures. We are open to all suggestions for the area. Please share your favorite restaurant, museum, hiking, biking, farm experience or any insights about local celebrations, towns and excursions. We welcome all comments.

thanks,

steve

The Touring Club of Italy has published a guidebook for Le Marche, though I can't swear it's still in print. It's a very good resource. One sight not to be missed is the Frasassi Caves. It would be a very long drive from AP, worth staying over a night, if you need to.
