Looking for suggestions for bed and breakfast stays in Florence and Rome.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay in each place? We will be in Florence for two nights and Rome for four nights. There are 2 couples in our group and we would want our own bedroom and bathrooms. We would like to keep our budget at or under $250 per night. Thank you.

Lots to choose from! You would likely get most useful responses if you let us know how many people will be traveling, and a general nightly budget. Also, any specific needs, like need an elevator, parking available, etc.

We've stayed several times at the Pantheon View B&B in Rome. https://www.pantheonview.it/ Not really much of a view of the Pantheon, but the location is fantastic and the price is reasonable for Rome. Super convenient for walking to so many things and visiting the Pantheon in the evening is one of my favorite things in Rome. We were not able to stay there on our visit a few weeks ago because it was booked solid.

We had a great stay at Il Salotto di Firenze a couple of years ago. It's right off the Piazza del Duomo. We were five couples traveling together. The proprietor of the B&B was very nice to work with. After our booking, I sent him occasional emails with questions and he was always quick to reply and provided helpful information. We wanted to reserve a table for 10 at a restaurant, and he made recommendations and then placed the reservation for us at the one we picked, then also handled the required confirmation with the restaurant the prior day, before we arrived in Florence. The young man who was in charge during our stay, whose name was Sergio, was delightful. Our rooms were huge, and despite the hotel's central location, and the fact that we were there during a big festival, we had a quiet peaceful night of sleep. The walls are thick and there are noise blocking shutters on the windows. The rooms were air conditioned. The breakfast was wonderful, and the breakfast room also had all-day availability of tea, coffee, water, juice and snacks (fruit, granola bars, cookies, etc.). I'd stay there again without hesitation. I loved getting up early in the morning and having a one minute walk to get to the Duomo plaza before any tourists had arrived.

Have you considered staying in a convent?

We stayed in convents in both cities. I wouldn’t think of staying anywhere else. Breakfasts weren’t much but rooms were nice - single beds though!.

Was your budget for both rooms or each?

In Florence we stayed at the Casa per Ferie Borgo Pinti and in Rome at Casa Maria Immacolata. We booked thru monasterystays.com

Florence-
Take a look at Hotel La Scaletta - it's right by the Ponte Vecchio with a great rooftop view for breakfast.
Also, Hotel Torre Guelfa has an awesome tower to watch the sunset. We took our daughters here for their first trip to Florence.

Rome-
B&B Arco dei Tolomei
Casa Campo de Fiori
Albergo Cesari

We were in Florence less than two weeks ago and stayed at Relais Piazza Signoria booked on booking.com. It’s apartments, but they gave a manned front desk, from 9-6. No cleaning fee, modern, nice decor, secure entrance off Piazza. We had a studio apartment and the size was great. Made coffee in the morning, fridge for snacks. We booked non refundable rate as we knew our 2 nights were set for $109/night. No view, but really quiet for a big city. Highly recommended and we will stay there again next time in Florence.

We can highly recommend the B&B Armonio Al Opera on Via Viminale across the street from the Roma Opera House. The property is first rate, extremely clean, and the owner, Paolo, is most helpful. We've stayed there many times since 2009 and always recommend this place.

One of our favorite Roma restaurants is located downstairs, Ristorante Al' Amatriciana.
