Looking for recommendations for places to stay in Verona and Padova in Feb.

Hello,
I am looking for recommendations for places to stay in Verona for 2 nts and Padua for 1 nt in February. I am open to hotels, b & b, apt. rental. anything as long as it is in a good location. We will not have a car so ideally a central location to sites would be best. Ideally something nice as this trip the kids are not coming! A long overdue honeymoon you might say.
Thanks

The nicest hotel I’ve stayed at in Verona is Hotel Bologna. The rooms are beautiful, the breakfast is excellent, and the location is superb. It’s one block from the Roman Arena off Piazza Bra. They also have bikes you can use.

We stayed in Hotel Aurora our first time to Verona. It’s on Piazza Erbe. It was fine, but I preferred Hotel Bologna for ambience & location.

The hotel we stayed at in Padova isn’t special enough to mention.

Posted this earlier, but it disappeared into a black hole. Aren't computers great!

We stayed at Hotel Torcolo several years ago and would not hesitate to stay there again. You can walk to it from the train station if you are lightly loaded. If not, it's not an expensive cab ride. It's located near Piazza Bra and within walking distance of the Roman Coliseum, Roman theater, Ponte Scaligero, Basilica San Zeno, the Dante statue, Piazza Erbe, Della Scala tombs, and Castelvecchio. Avoid the fake "Juliet's Balcony" and her fake tomb -- just gimmicks created to boost the tourist trade according to people we know who lived there several years. There are many restaurants between Piazza Bra and Piazza Erbe, but examine menus carefully because donkey and horse meat are frequently listed.

Last summer, my family and I stayed in this apartment rental:

https://homes-and-villas.marriott.com/en/properties/40027147-padova-lavish-two-bedroom-suite-close-to-the-shops-and-sights?locationName=Padua&numberofguests=1&adults=1

It's a Marriott property, so if you're a member of Marriott's reward program, you can earn or redeem points. We always have a bajillion Marriott points that my husband and I earn for our work travel, so we love being able to spend them on vacation. The property is a 2 bed, 2 bath, so it might be bigger than what you need/want, but it is exceptionally nice and in a great location - on a quiet, pedestrian-only street, but right above shops, cafes, and around the corner from the main sights. We did have to arrange for someone to meet us at the apartment, so maybe doesn't make sense for your one night stay, but we loved it so much I wanted to share!

There are city buses that go from the train station to Piazza Bra. Just look for the busiest bus, and that’s probably it!

In Verona, this was RIGHT on the main market square and an incredible property that our kids stayed at on their honeymoon last May. We thought Verona was so beautiful and loved going up the bell tower and wandering the old town. The castello and the bridge across were also amazing. Very clean touristic city with wonderful old town and great food.

We stayed here in Padova and loved it. The room was beautiful and bed comfy. It's a bit hard to find (just a plain metal door next to a gelato stand) and is RIGHT on one of tha main squares. The square out front has a morning market every day and then changes in to a huge open air dining room for all the local bistros every evening. From the room it was a bit loud down in the square but you are right in the heart of the old city center and the windows do a pretty good job of blocking most of the noise. 'Breakfast' was some packaged sweets next to the coffee maker and it was a steep climb to the rooms with no elevator. Padova can seem a bit grungy but after staying there a day, you fall into the local rhythm. Way less tourists and felt very very local/real.

If you are going to Padova and like science and education at all, do yourselves a favor and get a tour of the University where Galileo was a professor. The Scrovegni chapel was also amazing.
