Looking for Private Drivers in Tuscany

Hello fellow Travel Folks
We will be in Tuscany, staying in a Villa in Greve in two weeks with a group of 10. We need to hire a driver
For daily excursions etc, not a wine tour group.A reputable driver with a Van to be on call. Also any restaurants
In the area that are wonderful will be appreciated…
Thanks in advance.

When you say "on call", do You mean a van and a driver at your service every day from 8 Am To around midnight? Or a reputable driver to call last minute, but knowing that he could be working for somebody else on that day?

Dario,
Thank you for your response .We would want a driver for scheduled excursions, train transfers, and a few day trips… probably 3 dinners out of a 7 day week. We also have one day that we wish to go to Montalcino where we have tasting booked at Castiglion Del Bosco, going on to Montepulciano for dinner… That would be a10 hour day. Please advise.

Cheri, I think your first, best resource would be the owner of your villa as they will be most familiar with local services.

That said, I would also guess that reserving an "on call" driver - meaning one that is at your beck and call so not free to take on any other clients - for 10 people for two whole weeks will be quite expensive!

will be quite expensive!

I guess around € 2,000.

Try to ask a quote to https://www.taxichiantincc.it/ , but make clear you are 10. They have an 8-seater plus driver van, while you need an 10-seater plus driver.

Or let's just all wait for Roberto to chime in!

Dario, you have vastly more background on this subject than I but given just the transfer rates I'm seeing from nearby airports to Greve for a 12 or 14 person van, I would estimate higher than 143 >167€ per day (2000€ divided by 12 or 14, depending on days on the ground in Italy). I also wonder if it may depend on WHERE the driver might be expected to go (gas cost for more versus less distance + parking fees) for day trips within the two weeks?

I'm also thinking that, given luggage for 10, they need the larger van for transfers to/from the airport than for daily trips? Whatever the case, I'm curious how this will shake out. LOL, yes, let's see what wisdom Roberto has to impart for our OP. :O)

Cheri, I do hope you hear from your host! When you get this sorted, could you give a shout back on this thread for the benefit of others who may be looking for group service from the same or close by location?

The only car-with-driver (NCC in Italian) I know in Tuscany is Cusi Florence: http://cusiflorence.com/
2000€ for a week could be possible and is a very good rate indeed, but depends how long and far are the daily programs. Is much easier for a group of 10 a cost of 400/500€ per day...
Keep in mind that the Covid rules says that a van/bus cannot be completely full, so probably you need a 15/20 seats bus if you want to stay everybody together, or 2/3 7-seats vans. 1 bigger bus is cheaper than 2 vans because uses only one driver, but is more expensive as entrance fares in historical towns/villages (Siena, San Gimignano...).
