Looking for lunch restaurant recommendations in or nesr Rome Jewish Ghetto

We are looking for ideas for a good lunch spot in or near the Rome Jewish Ghetto. We will be there early October, so can hopefully eat outdoors. Thanks for your help.

Da Giggetto right in the Jewish Ghetto has been around for many years. In 2010, on our first trip to Rome, we dined al fresco there on a warm night and it was beautiful. The fried artichoke (carciofi fritti) was great and the bucatini all' Amatriciana was the best I've had anywhere, even up til now. Everything else was forgettable.

Last time in Rome we found that Giggetto was not ready to open for lunch so we ate at Nonna Bette next door and it was very good. They have the artichokes also as well as falafel.

I stayed in the area when I was in Rome and hit a few. They are probably all pretty good, but I like Nona Betta's pasta and the bacalao and friendly staff at B'Ghetto Milky. (If you go to Ba'Ghetto, note that they have 2 restaurants- one with dairy and one with meat. Kosher, so if one person wants cheese and one wants steak, pick some place else). Artichokes were good at all the places. This was early November and despite a little rain, eating outside was fine and fun for people watching, if you don't mind people watching you back!

In addition to the lunch recommendations, stop by Boccione Bakery for delicious traditional Roman pastries.

On our first visit to Rome we took the amazing Jewish Roma tour with Micaela Pavoncello. It included the Ghetto, Synagogue and Jewish Museum. It was extra special because we were there during Rosh Hashanah ("Jewish New Year").

Hope the weather cooperates to eat outdoors! Enjoy.

I will also be there in early October, so found the suggestions very interesting. Unfortunately, though, Giggetto isn't open for lunch, and Nonna Betta is closed on Tuesday--the day I*'ll be there. Too bad, it did look likie a great place. Will have to continue looking . . . .

If you (or anyone else watching) want a higher end place without the outdoor seating, check Al Pompiere. It's around the corner from these other places and the food is great without the crowds. Reservation s probably required, although I called the morning of to reserve for dinner.
