Looking for recommendations in both Siracusa as well as Palermo for a trip this May. We tend to like small, quaint B&Bs (ideally with included breakfast) in central but relatively quiet locations. Price point is ideally $80-$120 a night. Does anyone have any stellar recommendations that they want to pass along? We're not interested in an agriturismo nearby or apartment.

Since we had a car we stayed in Monreale and took the bus into Palermo to avoid driving in the city. The bus stop was about a 5 minutes walk from B&B Elvira el Duomo and the ride into the city was 40 minutes. The total price for 2 nights in September was €160. Walking to the Duomo in Monreale took 10 minutes. The owners were very friendly and breakfast was included. Very enjoyable stay.

I'm searching both cities myself - loved Siracusa last year but think I want to try Palermo this year. In Siracusa I would only recommend staying on the island of Ortigia. VRBO and TripAdvisors are giving me lots of interesting places to consider, well within your budget I think. I've also looked at hotels.com for ideas. Happy hunting! Maybe this site will give us both some good leads!
In Palermo I've been advised to stay near Teatro Massimo. Places that were recommended include the Ambasciatori Hotel, Palazzo Pantaleo B&B, Delle Vittorie B&B, Artemisia Palace and Stupo Mundi B&B. My dates are pretty full already but you are going earlier than I am.
