Looking for lodging in the Pantheon Neighborhood in Rome

My husband and I will be in Rome for 4 days. As an inexperienced traveler I made reservations for the Hotel Pace Elvetia (Helvezia), however as continued to do my research I have read quite a few negative reviews about that particular hotel. Considering this, I would prefer to cancel those reservations and book with another hotel.

Does anyone know of a decent hotel with the following qualities in the Pantheon area or heart of Rome area. Please help with Preferred hotel qualities:
Price: Under $200 or 140 Euros
Clean, AC, generally safe, and good service. Location, generally in the center of town, or not too far from it. Please help. These arrangements would be for early to mid november.
Thanks,
Sally

Hi,

Me and my husband just returned from Italy, and we stayed at Hotel Smeraldo, which is close to Campo de Fiori, and an easy walk to the Pantheon. We walked to all the sights from this hotel, and it wasn't far off a main bus line. Hotel was clean, great cafe across the street, and had internet access in the lobby. We would stay here again. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

I'll second the recommendation for Hotel Smeraldo. We loved the hotel, the area, and the proximity to most everything.

Check out the Hotel Navona. Just of the Piazza.

Check out this website: www.cross-pollinate.com It is a bed and breakfast and apartment booking service owned and operated by an American family living in Rome. They are also recommended in Ricks book on Italy. I have stayed with them many times and they are the best and the prices are reasonable. Someone else mentioned hotel Navona which is one of their properties between Campo di Fiori and Piazza Navona. It was a great location and if you stay on the 5th floor, you have access to a patio and a rooftop patio where we sat everyday and had wine, cheese and olives and we overlooked the historic district.

We liked Hotel Parlamento for the location and the room. The price was around $200 per night.
