My girlfriend and I are heading to Cinque Terre the middle of next week and it appears quality rooms with a good view of the sea are booked. Its our first time there and a little concerned about room options. Do I need to be worried about finding a quality room (with a view) if we just show up and talk to the locals? Does anyone have any other suggestions for options. I appreciate any feedback.
Did you try Gianni Franzi? It is peak season, so I am not surprised if most everything is booked already :(
Brandon,
You'll probably have better luck finding accommodations in Monterosso, as it's the largest of the five villages and has the best selection of Hotels.
Vernazza tends to be very popular (especially with many of Rick's readers) so just showing up and finding a room right away (especially in the middle of the fall shoulder season) might not be too likely.
If you want something with a view of the sea, you might want to try and pre-book if possible.
Good luck and happy travels!
Brandon - In Vernazza right on the harbor
Fantastic Location - if they have availability this late!! Try them Walk the trail - It's Incredible - The section from Riomaggiore to Manarola is particularly scenic - Only takes about half an hour and there is a cafe partway along so you can stop for a beverage.
Ciao, Greg
Try Albergo Marina in Monterosso. No sea views but a great little hotel. It's nice, airconditioned, free breakfast, free afternoon snack buffet with wine AND it's affordable.

Hello. On the following link you can find useful information for accommodations in the Cinque Terre.
Bye
Just returned from C.T. & we stayed at the Albergo Margherita in Monterosso. Their buffet breakfast was incredible!! It was the best breakfast spread we'd seen in our 16 days in Italy. Rooms were very clean & comfortable. I chose Monterosso because it's more level & I didn't want to have to climb steep streets with luggage in tow. Also, Monterosso has a lot of restaurants & shops. The hotel is located in old town Monterosso which is really quaint. We had to check out really early on our last day & the hotel prepared brown bag breakfasts for us to take with us which I thought was really nice! They delivered the "to go" breakfasts to our room the night before. It worked out really well. I would not show up & try to get a room without a reservation. We met a couple in Vernazza (last week) that didn't have reservations anywhere & they spent several hours searching for a room & couldn't find one so they had to go to another town. I prefer to have a reservation so I don't waste precious sight-seeing time on finding a room.
