My husband and I are going to be in Florence on a Thursday evening, all day/night Friday, leaving early Saturday morning (June 14th-16th, 2018). Friday will be sightseeing during the day and I'm looking for some activities/experiences for both evenings. Rick's guidebook doesn't list anything like this for Florence. Any suggestions?
It’s hard to tell you. It depends on what you are looking for.
Florence is a metro area of 1 million people, with about 60,000 students, scores of international universities and other international schools with thousands of international students year round. About 14 million tourists visit the city ever year. So you can just imagine the plethora of events and activities going on at different times for any kind of taste or interest.
You can google EVENTI A FIRENZE and see.

Stroll the streets with the crowds, eat gelato, watch the sunset over the city from up on Piazza Michelangelo, find a concert to listen to, have a late dinner.
We like a hedonist approach to evenings in Italy. Stroll somewhere for an apperitivo at an outdoor table to people watch and relax. Then a long, lingering dinner (heavy emphasis on the long) of several courses and a bottle of wine. Then a stroll around the streets of the old town to see the lovely old buildings and the Arno at night and to aid the digestion. By then, after a long day of sightseeing or travelling, you'll be glad to return to your hotel.
What CJean said.
Dinner will likely take around 2 hours or more and may start later than you are used to. However, the Golden View Open Bar has more generous hours. Their events link has some info you might find interesting.
At first we thought this might be a too touristy place, but if it is, about 90% of them speak Italian.
Outside of one of the major museums is a covered area of additional statues. This is a free experience and worth seeing between dinner and gelato. Someone please chime in w museum name.....
Do you mean the one opposite the Palazzo Vecchio entrance?

Has to be Loggia dei Lanzi. As CJean said, right outside Palazzo Vecchio.
Our first trip to Florence was in Feb two years ago. We went walking in the evening and found a wonderful musician in Piazza Republica.
The last 2x we were in Florence (July and Oct) there was an orchestra playing in the evening right in front of Palazzo Vecchio. We sat in the Loggia dei Lanzi and enjoyed the music and people watching.
Speaking of Loggia dei Lanzi.... 🙄

As ttmom12 did, we enjoyed musicians 2 nights on Piazza Repubblica as we were wandering around, very special memories.
Aside from a puppet show in Salzburg many years ago, I've never looked for evening activities any place I have visited, and even that show was a spur of the moment thing. Walking the streets and a nice meal on a beautiful evening is good enough for me.
Tip, take the number 7 (?) bus up to Fiesole in the evening, have a walk around, in and out of the side streets, and then dine at La Reggia. Book in advance.
