I am planning on going 2 days before the 17 day Tour of Italy starting September 30.
Also would like to stay a few extra days in Rome at end.

Nigel didn't get absolute confirmation if you are going on the 17 day tour and if you are interested. Seems you have posted over 5,00 times. Curious why?

I've posted over 5,000 times because I have comprehensive knowledge of quite a lot of western Europe and England and I enjoy sharing my knowledge.
If I see that somebody has posted a thread in a Forum which is less advantageous to them I often pop in a note of where they can put their post and perhaps get more or better answers.
That's what I did in your case, trying to help you find your travel partner.
