My husband and I are just planning our trip to Europe which will take place in June 2021 so still a ways from now. Our base will be in Vienna, Austria where family lives but want to see Rome, Sorrento, Pompeii as well as places in Vienna. We are looking for a hostel or hotel in Sorrento plus in Rome. Open to any suggestions. Thanking you in advance.
We enjoyed these hotels:
Sorrento: Hotel Mignon. Convenient location just off the main street. Had a balcony room and enjoyed wine and local cheese we bought at a store 1 block away. https://www.sorrentohotelmignon.com/english/english.htm
Rome: Hotel Navona. Right in the historical center, next to the Piazza Noavone. Close to Pantheon, Trevi, and more. Has an elevator and great breakfast. https://www.hotelnavona.com/
jons,
As you have lots of lead time before your trip, I'd suggest having a look at the latest RS Italy guidebook as that has lots of suggestions for hotels in both locations you mentioned. It's difficult to make suggestions without having some idea on your price criteria or the "comfort level" you want.
Thanks. I have checked out his guidebook from library and will study that. In the meantime I will search this great website that I found.
jonsuebaker, it would help to know what sort of price you're working with? What are you wanting to spend per night? As you mentioned "hostel", that leads me to believe that economy might be a bigger concern for you than for some other travelers.
Just looking around for ideas. I find this whole planning of a trip a little overwhelming. Also looking at a RS tour in Rome. Thanks
In Sorrento check out Marina Piccola 73. If you want a small, beautiful, boutique, hotel on the waters edge this place is amazing,. Check any travel site reviews and ratings. Sit back and watch the boats come in with Mt. Vesuvius as your background view. Very reasonable rates and easy to get up the old town of Sorrento.
We rented a small villa in Saint Agnello with an short easy walk into Sorrento. We used the company called Feeling Italy which is based in Sorrento. Very helpful and friendly staff with good recommendations for lodging.
