Looking for advice on itinerary (Rome to Sorrento in March?)

I am looking for advice. We are travelling to Italy and Paris mid-March/early April. My partner has limited mobility so we cannot do long days of straight walking. I am trying to minimize travel days as we will have our carry on luggage. I am wondering if we should plan to go to Sorrento during this time or find another option. I have always wanted to see Pompeii but I know the day trips from Rome are long days. Thank you for any suggestions!

This is our draft itinerary:
- Fly into Venice - 2 nights (jet lag recovery and standard sights depending)
- Train to Florence - 4 nights (Uffizi, Accedemia, Duomo, Pitti Palace, extra day for wine tour)
- Train to Rome - 3 nights (standard sights that we can fit in)
- Train to Sorrento - 2 nights (Pompeii on the way and an Amalfi tour)
- Fly from Naples to Paris for 3 days (We plan to visit France again in 2 years but likely not Italy again.)

I’d add a night to Venice for starters

Skip Sorrento if you can only give it 2 nights which is just 1.5 days. That’s not worth the effort and time it takes to get there.
Add those nights to Rome or 1 to Rome, 1 to Venice
Romes deserves all the time you can give it.

Pompeii is massive with very uneven surfaces, not sure it’s the best choice for your partner
Too far, too much as a day trip

You might consider visiting Ostia Antica from Rome. Smaller, closer and more manageable.

Thank you ChristineH for your suggestions!
I will definitely look into Ostia Antica as it sounds more ideal. We will add another day to Rome and perhaps find another location such as Assisi or Sienna.

Orvieto is very nice, easy to get and worth a night or two.
It’s an Umbrian hill town but the center is basically flat
Great views

I loved both Siena and Assisi but they are both very steep, lots of step/stairs
Especially Assisi
We both have developed mobility issues since we were there and I don’t think I could manage that town again!
