My family of 4 adults will be spending two nights on Ischia the beginning of July. Any suggestions for a clean affordable place would be helpful. We will be taking the ferry over from Sorrento and will not have a car.

I am going to Ischia in August and been doing a lot of hotel research!
I have decided to stay in Forio and just booked my reservation at a B&B called Pietradonica (good reviews on tripadvisor).75 euro/night includes breakfast. Other hotels I gave strong consideration to (also in Forio) were Parco dei Principe and Hotel Villa Verde and Hotel Nettuno. I found this site helpful: ischiaonline.net you can do a hotel search narrowed down by city you want to stay in.
